Lindsay Callahan, Executive Director
Lindsay Callahan is the founding Executive Director of the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation. Lindsay has extensive experience in afterschool programs at the state, regional and local levels. As Executive Director, Lindsay is responsible for supporting and promoting quality afterschool programs in the Central Valley. Under her leadership, the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation has provided outreach and support to hundreds of afterschool programs.
An expert in afterschool, Lindsay spent five years managing and leading the California After School Partnership on behalf of the Foundation Consortium for California’s Children and Youth. Lindsay has also held a number of policy positions in the areas of education, human services, consumer rights and transportation. A leader in afterschool policy, Lindsay was part of the team that crafted the afterschool reform legislation (SB 638) in 2006. Currently, Lindsay is the chair of the California After School Network and an active participant in state level policy groups and discussions.
Lindsay has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Sacramento. Lindsay spends all of her free time chasing after her husband and two boys.
Kim Boyer, Program Trainer

Kim Boyer is the high school Program Trainer at the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation. She has 7 years experience working directly with children as an elementary school teacher, an Afterschool Program Coordinator, and Program Trainer. Kim facilitates the High School ASSETs Learning Community, in addition to providing technical assistance and training to programs throughout Region 7.
Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UCLA, a Masters Degree in Education from CSU Fresno and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program for Educational Leadership there. When Kim is not working or going to school, she enjoys spending time with her husband Brooks and two kids, Emmit and Audrey.
Evelyn Escalera, Program Trainer

Evelyn Escalera is the Afterschool Program Trainer for the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation. She has experience working with afterschool programs, community based organizations, and media throughout the Central Valley. Evelyn provides coaching, training, mentoring, and support to site staff and program/grantee staff as determined by county needs.
Evelyn holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fresno in Mass Communications and Journalism with an emphasis on Public Relations.
Michael Macias, Workforce Specialist

Michael Macias is the Workforce Development Specialist for the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation. Michael has a wealth of experience in marketing programs and services for community based organizations. As the Workforce Development Specialist, Michael develops marketing and communication strategies to increase awareness about employment opportunities in the afterschool field. Michael is currently working to establish a pool of highly qualified applicants to meet the growing needs of afterschool employers. In addition, Michael works directly with afterschool providers throughout the Central Valley to monitor the needs of new and existing programs.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fresno in Criminology and an MBA in Marketing and Organizational Leadership from National University.
Richard Peralta, Program Trainer

Richard Peralta is the middle school Program Trainer serving for the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation. Richard is responsible for providing coaching and training to bolster the development of the highest quality after-school programs throughout our region. Regarded as a middle school expert, Richard leads CVAF’s middle school program quality learning network. Prior to joining CVAF, Richard enjoyed much success overseeing the establishment of several comprehensive middle school programs throughout Fresno County. A lifetime Valley resident, Richard has spent nearly a decade committed to service and support of youth in the Valley.
Commonly known to his friends and students as “Rico,” he is looking forward to making many new friends and supporting the old ones through the development of a Middle School/Older Youth Learning Network. Rico graduated from CSU, Fresno with a B.A. in History. No stranger to confronting challenges, Rico is working toward an M.P.A. in organizational leadership. He is an avid practitioner of Kajukenbo, a realistic self defense discipline. Rico enjoys backpacking to the summit of Half-Dome and looks forward to reaching the summit of Mt. Whitney.
Rachel Tabrizi, Project Coordinator

Rachel Tabrizi serves as Project Coordinator for the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation. She is experienced at managing a number of projects, including the Workforce Development Project and High School ASSETs Learning Community. She is also the writer and organizer of the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation e-Newsletter and website.
Rachel has a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fresno in Sociology. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society and the American Humanics Student Association. In May 2008 Rachel and her husband welcomed their first child, Oceana. |
