GUINNESS WORLD RECORD HOLDER TO CREATE 3-D MASTERPIECE  AT THE FRESNO GRIZZLIES STADIUM, WEDNESDAY, JULY 8

FRESNO, Calif. – Mark Wagner, the mastermind behind the Kids’ Chalk Art Project, which set a Guinness World Record in 2008 for the largest chalk drawing, will create a 3-D chalk art masterpiece in Chukchansi Park to commemorate National Summer Learning Day.

Kids attending the game are invited to take part in creating this interactive art piece.  The artwork is part of the exhibit showcase taking place at the Fresno County Office of Education and Central Unified School District’s National Summer Learning Day celebration at the Fresno Grizzlies game on Wed., July 8 at 6:05 p.m.

Studies have shown that the arts teach kids to develop a willingness to explore what has not existed before.  When a kid’s creativity is nurtured, they are curious and inspired to learn more.

“Art is not just a pretty picture, but also a way of being creative in all aspects of one's life.  Creative and intellectual exploration stimulates a kid’s interests and passions, and helps to facilitate positive experiences at home and in school,” Wagner said.  “Kids who are nurtured with the creative spirit grow up ready and able to effectively interact with the world.”

Informational exhibits and innovative demonstrations will emphasize the importance of out-of-school learning—in summer school and after school—and the positive impact it has in a child’s growth and development.

Students in Central Unified School District’s summer learning programs will kick-off the evening with a pre-game parade.  The evening will include student talent showcases from musical and dance performances, to art and project exhibits, and other various enrichment activities students are engaged in throughout the summer and after school.

The public is invited to view the creation of Wagner’s artwork throughout the day at the Tulare Plaza gate at Chukchansi Park.

Tickets for the game are available at the Fresno Grizzlies box office, and online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com.
