Expanding on the success of 2009, CVAF introduces a variety of new events for this year’s Lights On Afterschool Central Valley celebration. Central Valley afterschool programs: get your teams ready for this exciting day!
Saturday, October 30 2010 LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL CENTRAL VALLEY FESTIVAL All Day Downtown Fresno, Memorial Auditorium
For elementary, middle school and high school students; and families, friends and community members
- We will bring back the ASSETS Best Dance Crew Competition for high school students, bigger and better than ever. You won’t want to miss the outstanding hip hop, multicultural and misc. afterschool dance team numbers.
- The K-8 “Afterschool’s Got Talent” show in the park will once again be an amazing display of talent and pageantry as some of the best talent in the valley is showcased.
- Exhibits throughout the area featuring interesting and fun activities for youth will be presented by afterschool programs, community-based organizations and mall stores. Of course, there will be plenty of food options and prize drawings for everyone as well.

New! Tuesday, October 19 – Saturday, October 30 “CANSTRUCTION” COMPETITION & EXHIBITION River Park Shopping Center, Fresno For high school afterschool student teams, company teams and design-build professionals
What do you get when you combine design-build professionals, teams of students and employer groups, cans of food, and the valley’s Community Food Bank? A one-of-a-kind exhibit with amazing sculptures made from cans, which will be donated to families in need after the event.

New! Tuesday, October 19 "BUILDING YOUTH, BUILDING COMMUNITY" A STEM LUNCHEON FOR BUSINESS & COMMUNITY LEADERS The Tower Building, Fwy 41 and Friant Rd. For business leaders, community-based organizations, government leaders, leaders in education and afterschool administrators
We are gathering the afterschool and education community, along with public, private and non-profit leaders to focus on how building youth builds communities. The luncheon will feature an outstanding special guest speaker, a deserving afterschool honoree and a few other surprises. More information will be released soon about the event that kicks off the Lights On Afterschool Central Valley season for us. |
