Workforce Development
The Central Valley Afterschool Foundation’s Workforce Development Project offers programs throughout Region 7 a comprehensive strategy aimed at solving recruitment and retention issues.
Our Workforce Development project utilizes targeted efforts designed to increase the applicant pool and includes working with high school seniors, college youth, and retired professionals. Through carefully designed marketing strategies, our Workforce Development Project’s goal is to develop an applicant pool of 1,000 “highly qualified” applicants for afterschool employment.
The Central Valley Afterschool Foundation is currently working with State Center Community College District to establish a workforce program that will complement our existing recruitment strategies. This program is designed to provide individuals interested in working in the afterschool field with a career pathway.
The retention of “highly qualified” staff for afterschool programs continues to be a problem facing programs throughout our Region. In an effort to retain quality staff in the afterschool field, the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation is working on creating an Afterschool Perks Program. The Afterschool Perks Program is designed to provide afterschool employees with additional incentives, and will work with local and national retailers to provide discounted services.
Through our Workforce Development Project, the Central Valley Afterschool Foundation also offers workshops on Professional Development and Effective Marketing Strategies Designed to Improve Recruitment Efforts.
